  • Thinking about buying a Boost?

  • At Boost we have a passion for health, mind and body. We aim to build Australia's largest collection of juice bars and we are always interested in talking to like minded people who have a zest for life and take the view that helping others can also be very financially rewarding. Our intention is to grow but with a very strong foundation.

We asked Stuart Slater (Boost Juice Burwood, Boost Juice Bondi 1 & 2) what he thought of the Boost network and what drove him to become a partner.

What is the best thing about being in the Boost network?
"Just being part of the brand that is Boost and all the positives that come with it, it is just such an unbelievable opportunity for any partner to be part of this highly professional franchise."

Why did you decide to become a Boost partner?
"I looked at all the franchise systems out there and no one came close to Boost for my franchising and long term business needs. You have a hot brand, sensational marketing, the best looking retail stores in Australia and a highly professional support team. My only regret is not becoming a Boost partner sooner!”

If you are interested in Franchise opportunities please take a moment to carefully review the information provided here. We are selectively pursuing strategic alliances with companies and individuals that fit with Boost.

In 2005 Boost won the American Express Reward for Excellence for “Franchisor of the Year”, presented by the National Retailers Association. The award identifies outstanding achievements in a range of areas critical to retail success, and the franchisor award is designed to recognise business excellence by a franchisor that has developed a successful franchise operation.

Also in 2005, Boost’s own Jacinta Caithness, General Manager of International and National Franchising, won the inaugural Australian Financial Review BOSS Young Executive of the Year 2005. Jacinta was chosen out of twelve finalists from some of the top companies in Australia. Jacinta started with Boost Juice when Boost had 15 stores and 4 staff at Head Office. She has made a major contribution to the growth of the business and in only two years has recruited over 100 franchisees, which meant recruiting nearly four people a month for the first twelve months - a mean feat for anyone to handle!

  • Why do it?

  • We have become the largest juice and smoothie bar in the southern hemisphere largely due to our franchising strategy and believe that we are yet to meet the many more prospective Boost Partners either within Australia or overseas.

We receive hundreds of franchise enquiries each week from all over Australia and throughout the world and we will continue our commitment to sourcing and selecting the best Partners we believe exist!

As the Founder of Boost Juice, Janine Allis says, “The Boost Partners are dynamic, inspirational people who have fresh ideas and new energy. We recruit like-minded people who share our enthusiasm and energy and believe that for Boost Juice to be successful, everyone involved must share the passion and the rewards”.

Here is some insight from Carlos & Kerrin Santo, Boost Juice partners of Merrylands in NSW.

“We certainly never hesitate to recommend Boost to any potential partner because it is run by people who care about more than just the bottom line. We believe the key factors required to succeed is stability, ease of operation and a unique quality product. Boost has all of these attributes.

Boost has exceeded all of our expectations for support, profitability, and success in our business.

We are very excited to now have the opportunity to build our business knowing that we are not alone and have a quality support infrastructure to rely on. Boost continues to provide us with tremendous support as we build our business & the Franchise Business Consultants represent exactly the kind of support liaisons that Boost promised when we came aboard”.

Since mid-2000 we have opened many company-owned and franchised stores throughout Australia and in 2004 we opened our first store overseas in Auckland, NZ. We are so excited about our international expansion and have no plans of slowing down either within Australia or off-shore (please see International Franchising section for further details).

Julie-Anne Knox from Boost Juice Bankstown & Boost Juice Miranda is delighted to be part of the Boost Family -
“To me the best thing about being in the Boost network is feeling part of a team of talented, inspiring people - among my fellow Boost partners, the Boost support team and a great young team at the store! There is also the feeling among the network that 'we're all in it together' - everyone is working toward a common goal of making a successful business and there are always plenty of ideas on how to make it happen.

Being a Boost Partner means being part of a fun culture, meeting and learning from some fantastic franchisees, having the help and support of a great franchise operations team, training and rewarding a fun team of young people and helping them achieve their goals, meeting new customers and getting to know regular customers while making them happy by giving them a great experience and a healthy, delicious product!

I decided to become a Boost Partner for a few reasons: to have more control over my own financial future by running my own business, to be a part of a franchise system where I was still a part of a team, and to be involved in a growing (yet proven) business in the healthy fast food industry. Boost particularly appealed because of the brand and their young, fun culture - I also believed in the company's strong foundations and management team, and the opportunity for future growth, not to mention that I was a huge fan of the products!”

This is a limited opportunity to become part of Australia’s favourite juice bar brand, so you will need to act today by completing the Boost Juice Application Form if you wish to register your interest. Please send the completed form to:

  • The 10 Step Process

  • • • • STEP 1 • • •
Download and complete boost juice application form.
This 18-page Application Form will need to be completed in full and by all parties who are applying for the franchise opportunity. Once completed, this form will need to be sent to the Boost Juice Support Centre, together with a cheque for $3,000. This cheque should be made payable to the Boost Juice Trust Account and if successful in your application for a Boost Juice franchise, this payment will go towards the costs incurred in preparing your Franchise Agreements. The $3,000 cheque is fully refundable* and will be returned to you in full should you decide at any time to withdraw your application, or should Boost Juice deem you unsuitable for this venture.

    • • • STEP 2 • • •
    Telephone screen.
Once submitted, your application form will be reviewed by the Franchise Recruitment team and following this review you will be contacted by telephone to complete the first stage in the Franchise Recruitment process - the Telephone Interview. This telephone screening process will assist the Franchise Recruitment department to assess your suitability as a Boost Partner. You will be contacted for the Telephone Interview within approximately 48 hours of the date we received your Application Form. The time frame can be hindered occasionally due to the influx of applications we receive.

    • • • STEP 3 • • •
    First Interview.
Following completion of this telephone screener, your application form will be short-listed for attendance at the first face-to-face interview. It is vital that this interview is attended by all parties to the proposed franchise operation. During this interview, you will receive an informal, yet comprehensive introduction into Boost Juice Bars and the franchising opportunity will be discussed with you in more detail. The first interview may be treated as a get to know you session where both parties to the meeting may form further opinions as to the overall suitability of the application.

    • • • STEP 4 • • •
    Franchisee Kit.
Following the First Interview, the Franchise Recruitment team will make an assessment of your suitability to the Boost Juice network. Green Light is where the Franchise Recruitment team finds you to be suitable to the Boost team and will progress with your application. Red Light means that for varied reasons, the Franchise Recruitment team finds your application unsuitable and will not be progressing any further. If you are given the Green Light you will be issued with the Franchisee Kit (including the Disclosure Document, Franchise Agreement and Franchising Code of Conduct) and the Historical Sales Turnover Figures.

    • • • STEP 5 • • •
    Second Interview.
Following the first interview, you are sure to have many questions about the franchise operation. Returning for the second interview will provide you with the perfect opportunity to have these questions answered. These questions may be about the Franchise Agreement or about the Boost Juice franchise operation, or a combination of both. Some prospects find that this interview is not required although it is available for everyone.

    • • • STEP 6 • • •
    Operational Questionaire
A comprehensive questionnaire detailing a series of operational-based questions will be issued to you following the second interview. The completion of this questionnaire will assist the Franchise Recruitment team in further assessing your application as your responses will provide them with an insight into your potential operation of the Boost Juice franchise. This questionnaire may be completed in person in an interview setting if suitable.

    • • • STEP 7 • • •
    Contact Existing Partners.
It is important that you take the opportunity to learn more about the Boost operation from our existing Partners, not just from us. We encourage you to contact existing Partners and get the heads-up from them as to what they think of us, about each other and about Boost in general. This contact should be part of your due diligence in researching any franchise opportunity and we trust through this contact you will see how these Partners were each granted a Boost franchise.

    • • • STEP 8 • • •
    Final Interview.
The final interview should take place only when you feel 110% confident about wanting to join the Boost team. Final approval as Boost Juice Partners will need to be granted by the Boost Juice Founder, Janine Allis. The final interview provides both Janine and you with the opportunity to learn more about each other. Final approval will either be given at the final interview or within 48 hours following. In most instances, the venue for the final interview is at the Boost Juice Support Centre in Melbourne.

    • • • STEP 9 • • •
    Franchise Agreement
Following your approval into the Boost Juice franchise network, we will liaise with you in preparing your Franchise Agreements. Depending on organization and time constraints, the Franchise Agreements can be organized within three weeks.

    • • • STEP 10 • • •
    Training.
The Boost Juice induction training is 3 weeks plus store open / handover support and will be scheduled to take place between 2 and 4 weeks before your store is due to open. This allows for the information you learn to be retained and passed on to your staff so as they are nice and organized for the store opening.

*The $3,000 is fully refundable less the reasonable legal costs incurred in preparing the Franchise Agreements. These Franchise Agreements will only be drawn up if an individual Boost Partner is approved into the Boost Juice Franchise network and subsequently granted a secured site.

If you are interested in possibly joining the Boost team please take the time to fill out the Application Form and send it in to:

  • Frequently Asked Questions

  • What is my initial investment?
Individual franchisees are looking at an estimated total investment of between $240,000 and $300,000 in store establishment costs. This range includes our franchise fee ($41,000 plus GST), training, shop fit, equipment and an allowance for working capital. The actual cost depends on a range of variables including the size and location of the store or kiosk.

Are there any continuing or on-going fees after the franchise fee and the store establisment costs are paid?
Yes. You will be required to pay an on-going royalty of 8 percent of gross monthly sales. An additional 3 percent of gross monthly sales is required as a contribution to the Boost Juice Marketing Fund. The contribution is invaluable as it goes toward growing the strength of the Boost Juice brand, with the funds to be spent on large-scale advertising and promotional initiatives.

What kind of return can I expect from the operation of a Boost Juice franchise?
Due to the significant number of variables affecting the profitable performance of each individual franchise, we can not give an accurate indication of what turnover you can expect from your operation of a Boost Juice franchise. Once we have received your Application Form and after the initial telephone interview, we release a Confidentiality Agreement to you. Following the execution of a Confidentiality Agreement and a meeting with the Franchise Recruitment Manager, historical sales turnover figures of the existing Boost Juice stores may be disclosed to you, together with a Financial Planning Guide, which will assist you in the preparation of your Business Plan.

Is previous experience in owning your own business required?
No. Whilst experience in owning/operating such a business would be regarded as advantageous, it is not imperative as part of the selection process.

    Is training provided?
Yes. Upon final approval by the management team, you will undergo three weeks of in store training on the franchise system by an accredited Boost Partner Trainer. This training, as well as material provided to you in the Operations Manual includes information on recruitment, product, suppliers, customer service, financial reporting and marketing tips, and will therefore provide you with the necessary skills to assist you in your business venture.

Am I required to work in the store?
Yes. At Boost, we believe that the most successful franchises are those which are run by the actual owner of the store. We also believe that the best head-start you can give your business is to commit yourself to it so as you can fully understand every aspect of the operation. We therefore have a clause in the Franchise Agreement where the franchisee is required to work in the business for the first 6 months on a full time basis. It is important to Boost that you want to pursue an active involvement in the franchise and do not want to obtain the franchise purely as an investment opportunity.

I would like to own a franchise with my business partner. Is this acceptable?
Boost does not encourage partnerships. We believe the best company structures are those made up of single applicants, spouses or siblings. There are no horror stories where things have gone wrong that have led us to feel this way it’s just that we like to take preventative measures.

    Which sites are available?
At the time that you submit your Boost Juice Application Form, it is likely that we will either have sites available which have been secured or are in the lease negotiation stages of a number of sites throughout Australia. We rarely advertise the sites we have available and never compromise on the quality of the sites we secure just as we never compromise on the quality of the people we select to become our Boost Partners.

Generally speaking, there are thee options for site-selection:

  • You may be granted the opportunity to franchise a site we have already secured
  • You may be granted the opportunity to franchise an existing store or;
  • You may nominate a particular area on your Application Form or during the Franchise Recruitment process which if available and considered viable by Boost, you may lock-in in paying a security deposit
  • Sites are something best discussed during the Franchise Recruitment process. We need to assess your suitability to the Boost Juice franchise network, just as you need to do your own assessment of our suitability to you and your lifestyle. When we are both comfortable to progress, you will be given the opportunity to lock-in a particular site within a region which you designate. The lock-in procedure may be discussed in more detail in the interview stage.

  • How long until I am up and running?
The timing of your store opening is completely dependant on the handover and lease commencement date outlined in the lease. Our internal Leasing Department negotiates all of the commercial terms of the lease, including the handover date.
We nominate a date suitable to you, to the landlord and to Boost.

I currently operate a shop and would like to operate my franchise from this location - is this possible?
Boost has an internal Leasing Department which secures all of our great sites. The sites that Boost selects are ultimately determined by this department, and by our Boost Partners. Features including foot traffic, demographic and extensive market research are all analysed in order to make an educated decision on site location. If you believe that you have a fantastic site location in mind we will consider this location although ultimately, the decision of where the store will be based lies with the Boost leasing team. Boost Juice holds the head lease on all sites secured, with a sub-lease prepared by the Boost Partner.

I would like to pursue multi-site franchise opportunities - is this possible?
Yes. Boost encourages Multi-Site ownership however, there is a comprehensive Multi-Site Assessment process that you will be required to under-go to be approved as a Multi-Site Boost Partner. Such criteria include requirements to have operated your initial store for a minimum of six months and to achieve certain KPI's of mystery shopper averages, store audits, general compliance to the Franchise Agreement and business acumen.
